Mayor Hernandez expressed gratitude to his family, colleagues, and the community, emphasizing the impact of collective efforts in improving Pharr’s quality of life. He reflected on 2023 as a phenomenal year and shared his excitement for continued progress.

Key highlights included the securing of over $700 million for transportation projects since 2015, significantly enhancing regional trade and transportation. The historic merger of three Metropolitan Planning Organizations in 2019, leading to the creation of the RGVMPO, was a pivotal achievement, unlocking billions in funding for infrastructure.

Significant projects like the I69 Interchange Expansion and the International Bridge Trade Corridor showcase Pharr’s infrastructure advancements. The Pharr International Bridge expansion, vital for international trade, is progressing at an unprecedented pace.

Mayor Dr. Hernandez also spotlighted PharrConnect, an innovative initiative providing essential internet access to underserved areas, highlighting Pharr’s commitment to addressing community needs.

It is because of you that we are here today. You took the time from your busy schedule — a break away from your daily lives in your respective industries — to spend time with us today and listen to what makes Pharr truly a remarkable place to be. You are the educators, business professionals, community partners, mothers, fathers, students, members of the religious community, industry representatives, and more, that have a vested interest in seeing our great city thrive.

So, thank you for being here and for your continued support of the great City of Pharr.
