Social Confidential
“Children of all abilities can benefit from the incredible social, physical and emotional benefits that play provides,” said Comm. Ellie Torres. “I am honored to be a part of this project that will help bring all children in our community to play together in one beautiful, inviting space.”
In this amazing partnership, Hidalgo County Precinct 4 is contributing $350,000 for the purchase of a three-part play system that is specially formulated for children who may have mobility or other challenges. Capable Kids will initially provide $125,000 towards the three-part play system in the first phase of the project, and then a final contribution of $375,000 during Phase II of the project. McAllen I.S.D. will serve as the project manager, installing and maintaining the playscape equipment and sidewalk build. Located at Sanchez Elementary, right next to the McAllen Youth Baseball Complex, the City of McAllen will build A.D.A. accessible restrooms and an expanded parking lot, so that the playground can be utilized during after school hours.
